The Challenge: The National Library of Medicine had volumes of data in various databases and required a simple and convenient way to access the information as required.

The Solution: A customer implementation of our search engine on a suite of web sites: Toxnet and DirLine.

Results: The National Library of Medicine (NLM) now has a powerful search interface for a large collection of toxicology databases from the EPA and NLM. Check out our search engine as it is used in these applications.

Toxnet Search Site:

• Toxline: an Extensive array of references to literature  on biochemical, pharmacological, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs and other chemicals  

• Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS): data from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in support of human health risk assessment, focusing on hazard identification and dose-response assessment.  

• Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB): Broad scope in human and animal toxicity, safety and handling,environmental fate, and more scientifically peer-reviewed.  

• Chemical Carcinogenesis Research Information: carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, tumor promotion, and tumor inhibition data provided by the national Cancer Institute (NCI).

• GeneTox: Peer-reviewed mutagenicity test data from the EPA.

• Environmental Mutagen Information Center (EMIC) Current and older literature on agents tested for genotoxic activity

• DART and ETIC: Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology and Environmental Teratology Information Center -Current and older literature on developmental and reproductive toxicology.  

• TRI: For Toxic Release Information (Annual estimated releases of toxic chemicals to the environment -the Environmental Protection Agency's TRI (Toxics Release Inventory)
